Today, Rising Star Games announced in a press release that they will collaborate with developer Image & Form on a physical release of SteamWorld Dig 2. Initially released on the Nintendo eShop last September, the Metroidvania-style platformer became a great success for Image & Form.
Brjann Sigurgeirsson, the CEO at Image & Form, writes:
We’re totally humbled by the community’s reaction to SteamWorld Dig 2…This latest SteamWorld adventure is a milestone, and we’re naturally very proud of it. Many fans are now asking for a physical release, so it makes me very happy to be able to partner up with Rising Star Games for a boxed version. We’re also excited that additional exclusive items will be included as well!
The retail release will be available for the Switch and PlayStation 4, and among the “exclusive items” include a double-sided poster and a reversible inlay. The game puts players in the shoes of a steambot as she tries to uncover the truth behind a series of mysterious earthquakes. It’s platformer that faces players with bigger and badder enemies as they dig deeper underground and uncover treasure and secrets.
SteamWorld Dig 2‘s physical release will arrive at select retailers in the U.S. and Europe this Spring. It is currently available digitally on Switch, PS4, PS Vita, and Switch.
