Here we go with yet another delay. This time it’s SEGA’s upcoming Yakuza title, Yakuza 6: The Song of Life. Originally slated for release on March 8, 2018, in North America (already released in Japan). This delay will see the game pushed back until April 17, 2018. Which is pretty much a bummer.
However, the good news is that we’ll see a demo for the title on Feb. 27, 2018. What exactly will be in the demo is anyone’s guess. SEGA isn’t telling us. But at least we’re getting one.

I’m going on a limb here and going to assume that Sega wants localization efforts to be on point. After seeing what NIS America recently went through with Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana, I’d be cautious as well. I’m sure SEGA was taking notice of what happened. That said, more time to polish it up is always a good thing. However, there’s a big issue here. A Kratos sized issue.
With the new release date, this puts Yakuza 6 directly inline with the release of God of War. The rebooted God Of War for the PS4 is a highly anticipated title for 2018. I don’t know if SEGA was paying attention to this or not, but I feel this could be a mistake. If it was up to me, I’d push it out until afterward, but not a week before.
Whatever happens, I hope this doesn’t impact the sales of Yakuza 6.
