We finally have a release date for Rockstar Games upcoming sequel, Red Dead Redemption 2. However, it won’t be anytime soon. While many have hoped and speculated that we may see the Western-themed game make its debut in Summer 2018.
It seems that Rockstar Games still has some work ahead of them and has pushed the release back until Oct. 26th, 2018. I know, I know. I’m just the messenger, don’t kill me.
Dear All,
We are excited to announce that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released on October 26th 2018. We apologize to everyone disappointed by this delay. While we had hoped to have the game out sooner, we require a little extra time for polish.
We sincerely thank you for your patience and hope that when you get to play the game, you will agree the wait will have been worth it. In the meantime, please check out these screenshots from the game. We look forward to sharing a lot more information with you in the coming weeks.
With thanks,
Rockstar Games
No one likes delays, not even the developer and publishers behind them. But I’m sure they hate a game that gets released in such a bad form that it’s received poorly. Polish it up all you want Rockstar Games, we’ll be waiting. Just not patiently.
Keep in mind that this only applies to the PS4 and Xbox One. While a PC version is also rumored, it hasn’t been officially announced by Rockstar Games. And while the first title was also a console-exclusive, I’m hoping it will eventually make it to the PC. Especially since this was also true for Grand Theft Auto V, which did come to the PC. Even though it was a year later.
Still, you got to wonder what this means for games that we’re going to be released in Oct. 2018. This delay could start a chain reaction of publishers “suddenly” pushing their games release dates up or down. Guess we’ll find out soon.
Rockstar Games also released a batch of new images. You can see those below, clicking on them will enlarge them.
