Fox has decided to shake up the release schedule for its upcoming films. Good news and bad news. Let’s get the bad news out of the way first, shall we? The New Mutants, which Fox initially gave an April 13, 2018 release date for, will now be pushed back. All the way back. The superhero film with a dash of horror will now come out on February 22, 2019. The silver lining is that the film will likely receive reworking to flesh out its horror elements, as it supposedly did not test too well as is. Directed by Josh Boone, the genre blending movie stars Anya-Taylor Joy, Maisie Williams, and Charlie Heaton as a group of teenagers with super powers held hostage in a government facility.
Now, on to the good news. The sequel to Deadpool is set to move up a couple weeks from June 1, 2018 to May 18. The likely reason for that is to avoid competition with the sure to be popular Solo: A Star Wars Story. Ryan Reynolds will be back as the “Merc With a Mouth” in the comedic superhero movie. Josh Brolin and Zazie Beets will be joining him this time around as Cable and Domino.
