Sega disclose new details for Valkyria Chronicles 4 in the recent issue of Famitsu. Details involve the return of the first games leveling system, cast of characters, and the return of Welkin Gunther as a DLC mission.
On the left, we have Angela Farnaby ( CV: Ayane Sakura) A pink haired private citizen who has a case of amnesia. Description states that she is cheerful, selfless, and popular with the soldiers. In the screenshot, we also see her in a scene facing with the Valykria , Storm Witch Crimaria.
Next, we have the teams medic Karen Stewart (CV: Yuka Saito) Her background is that she was raised in a family full of men, so she is comfortable in the presence of them. Though to be honest, I still prefer Fina from Skies of Arcadia as my main go to medic.
And what appears to be our mascot for the game, the medic dog named Ragnarok.
The red headed here is Mivera Victor (CV: Saori Hayami) Platoon leader for F Platoon, or 6th squad if you want to think of such. She follows the Knight’s Code of Chivalry greatly, earning respect from her platoons member. Seems she will be the class president type in the game. Her art style is reminiscent of the previous main heroine Riela Marceris of Valkyria Chronicles 3 .
Details of the game confirm that the leveling up system will be similar to the first game. After training sessions or missions, you are able to improve your infantry in groups instead of individually. So classes like lancers, scouts and shock troopers will gain the same growth of experience. Like the old drill instructor of the first game: “Bite the Bullet! Make sure you sweat!”
Lastly, the hero of the first Europan War, Welkin Gunther, will make an appearance. He will appear in DLC with the 7th Platoon in the mission titled “A United Front With The 7th Platoon.” In Valkyria Chronicles 2, he retired from the militia and took up his calling to be a teacher. I wonder what is the reason to be back on the battlefield.
Valkyria Chronicles 4 will be coming in 2018 for the PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
