2017 marks the 30th anniversary of Street Fighter. Now Capcom themselves haven’t done too much directly this year to celebrate the anniversary of one of their top selling franchises, they have allowed other thing to happen; such as a Special Edition Red Street Fighter II SNES cartridge, a cross over event with Red Bull that unlocks special costume in Street Fighter V, returning some previous classic stages to Street Fighter V, and allowing Udon Comics to re-release the original 6 issues of the Street Fighter comic (Which was published with Image Comics before Udon officially became a company).
So now that we are reaching the end of the anniversary year, Capcom have finally decided to do something themselves. They are releasing an Arcade perfect port collection of 12 Street Fighter games. There games include:
- Street Fighter
- Street Fighter II
- Street Fighter II Champion Edition
- Street Fighter II Hyper Fighting Edition
- Street Fighter II The New Challengers
- Street Fighter II Turbo
- Street Street Alpha
- Street Fighter Alpha 2
- Street Fighter Alpha 3
- Street Fighter III
- Street Fighter III 2nd Impact Giant Attack
- Street Fighter III Third strike
The Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection will also feature an interactive timeline of all the mainline Street Fighter titles, Concept Art Galley, Music Archive, and a Sprite Viewer as special features; along with Online Play allowing casual and ranked matches, lobbies and leaderboards for those who want a bit more competition. Each game will be done in the classic Arcade format, meaning it will be in 4:3 aspect ratio with a boarder around each game emulating an arcade cabinet. Sorry Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, your game isn’t featured here…
Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection will be available on Playstation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch & PC/Steam in May 2018… I guess it means that copy of Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers is even more pointless huh?
