Prolific writer and internet personality John Green has become one of those author whose books are so in demand, it’s hard to imagine a studio not hungrily devouring it to see if they could make it into a movie. And with the author’s latest book, Turtles All the Way Down, that’s essentially what happened, as the author announced in his latest video.
Less than two months after its debut, studio Fox 2000 is currently developing a movie version of the book. Turtles All the Way Down follows Aza, a teenager with obsessive-compulsive disorder who searches for a fugitive billionaire Russell Pickett, father of a former acquaintance. The book is currently a seven-week New York Times bestseller.
Green is quick to mention that this new doesn’t mean that there will for sure be a movie, but you have to imagine that after the major box office success of the other two films. Still, announcing a movie deal so soon after publication feels rushed, like it was part of Fox 2000’s plan all along. Green mentions in the video how he trusts the team, including producer Temple Hill, and project leads Isaac Klausner and Marty Bowen. We’ll just have to wait and see if anything comes from this partnership or if it really is too soon.
