Nintendo surprised many when it revealed that a special Animal Crossing direct was coming tonight, and that it would show off the much teased mobile game that would feature the beloved franchise. Well, reveal it they did, and Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is coming to a phone near you…and very soon.
If not already obvious, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp has you being a campsite manager, which is a fun twist on the village/town formula the game is known for. But make no mistake, this looks and feels like a full-on Animal Crossing title. You’ll start with nothing but a camper and dream of making a great campsite, and off you’ll go.
You’ll start small, go out into the world, of which there are many areas to explore and meet friends in, get items and materials, and then start building your campsite. You’d be surprised by what all is available for these “campsites”…hint…you can make a pool. No, for real! Of course, the journey is just as much a part of the game, you’ll trade items for items, and then make furniture and amenities to draw people to your campsite.
Now, the game will make use of real-time, and thus when you play the game will affect who is there, and how the world looks. Also, certain things will take time to make, so you’ll have to wait out some things. But, through Leaf Dollars, you’ll be able to speed up the process.
But wait! There’s more! You’ll also be able to decorate the interior AND exterior of the camper you use to get around. How’s that for pimping your ride? And trust us, you can do some cool things with it.
Add to that, you can meet other players, become friends, and then visit their campsites for new ideas on how to decorate yours! As if that wasn’t enough, Nintendo will be making some events for the game so you can deck out your campsite in holiday themes.
All in all, it’s going to be a fun adventure, and one you’ll get to start…very soon! As Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp arrives in late November.
