If you thought PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS was already huge, well we got news for you. It’s about to get even bigger. BlueHole, Inc, the company behind the game has decided to put things into overdrive. They’ve announced that they’ve set up a new subsidiary that will be solely focused on the development of PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS. Affectly, dubbed – PUBG Corp.
“Given PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS global success, we want to ensure that we have the operational efficiency that is required to support the game globally,” said Chang Han Kim, CEO, PUBG Corp. “This new structure allows us to be nimble as we look towards the expansion of strategic business opportunities that include the game’s potential in the esports sector and the growth of PUBG as a true global IP franchise.”
Chang Han Kim, who served as the PUBG producer, has been promoted to the Chief Executive Officer of PUBG Corp. While Woonghee Cho moves to the Chief Operating officer for PUBG. In addition to the United States offices, Bluehole will be opening an office in both Japan and Europe.
One can’t stop wondering if this doesn’t have anything to do with the recent game mode that was added to Fornite. The same game mode that is very similar to PUBG’s. It could be that Bluehole sees this as a threat and wants to accelerate the development of PUBG. Just a thought on my part.
Looks like things are starting to ramp up for the game that everyone can’t stop talking about.
