FUNimation made the announcement at Otakon that Makoto Shinkai’s Your Name (Kimi no Na wa) will be releasing on Blu-ray on November 7. There will be a standard edition as well as a limited edition of the Blu-ray, but pricing has not yet been announced. There will be; however, pre-orders for the film starting on August 15 through FUNimation’s website.
The Limited Edition Blu-ray includes the following:
- Two-piece collectible chipboard box with rainbow holographic finish, featuring the star-crossed lovers Taki and Mitsuha
- Your Name. 2-disc original soundtrack by RADWIMPS, with English and Japanese versions
- 60-page hardcover art book
- Art digipack
- Blu-ray + DVD of the film and 59 minutes of extras.
- your name.: Interview with Makoto Shinkai
- Makoto Shinkai Filmography
- Special TV Program
- Trailers
The standard edition will also include a DVD version of the movie, but nothing else.
Your Name opened in Japanese theaters in August 2016 and one year later, it is still breaking records becoming the only anime movie to have three Blu-ray releases in the Top 10 for two weeks straight! The Blu-ray released in Japan back on July 26. FUNimation noted that the U.S. will see the release just four months after Japan, which is almost unheard of in this day and age. Typically, it can take anywhere from six months to a year (or longer) after the Japanese home release for an anime to see a release in the U.S.
