In just three weeks, gamers from all over the tri-state (New York, Delaware, Pennslyvania) and likely beyond, will descend upon New York. To be more specific, they’ll be heading out to New York’s upcoming gaming convention, Play NYC.
Play NYC 2017 takes place August 19 and 20 at Terminal 5, 610 West 56th St. in Manhattan – at New York’s Terminal 5. There will be all sorts of gaming related activities all ready to go as soon as the doors open. From panels to classes for potential game designers, and of course several floors full of gaming, this looks to be very interesting times for who attend. As such, several of The Outerhaven staff will be on hand to celebrate this occasion and report on what we see and do, during the event.
For just two days, Play NYC will provide access to 3 floors of games, have over 100 different developers on hand to speak and listen to. As well as feature some of the biggest individuals from the gaming industry – It’s definitely shaping up to something that no gamer, casual or hardcore, is going to what to miss.
The goal here is to emulate what another popular gaming convention, mainly PAX (Penny Arcade) has pulled off and perhaps make New York the next gaming mecca for goers and gamers alike. And for someone like myself, who loves attending various gaming events, but find that there simply not enough on the East Coast, this is a welcomed endeavor. New York is just a hop, skip and jump away from me, so I’d be crazy not to check this out.
I’d love for this event to take off and become a yearly event. Just one more gaming event to go to and more importantly, we could use a positive event that has more of an exposure of indie and lesser known games and companies, as well as an educational experience.
If this sounds like something you’d like to check out, tickets are still on sale. Just head on over to the Play NYC website here, and pick up your ticket.
We’ll see you there!
