There had been rumors and speculation regarding the upcoming title, Cuphead, possibly heading to the PlayStation 4. Surprisingly enough, I’ve heard this a few months ago and again more recently around E3 2017. It seems that people just weren’t satisfied (or happy) with the title heading exclusively to the Xbox One and to be honest, who can blame them. Ever since we laid eyes on the title, it’s been really hard to not think about it.
However, it seems that the developers of Cuphead, StudioMDHR, wanted to set the record straight. In a recent post by NeoGAF user Teeth, who ended up being Tyler Moldenhauer, who works with StudioMDHR, he claims that Cuphead will never come to the PlayStation 4. In his post, he stated the following;
Yes, this Cuphead game is exclusive to Xbox and PC (with Steam and Win10 versions at launch and a GoG release likely shortly after). There will likely be a Mac version down the road and possibly a Linux version beyond that (unless we lose our houses or whatever).
We own the Cuphead IP.
Eurogamer followed up on this to verify the creditability and sure enough, it was legit. So there you have it, folks, if you want to play Cuphead, your only options are either on the Xbox One/Xbox One X or PC. As to when we’ll finally get our hands on the title, Cuphead officially releases on September 29th, 2017.
