The official website for the Tokyo Anime Awards Festival announced their Anime of the Year award winners! The winners were announced on January 31.
The process of selecting winners begins with accepting votes from anime fans. The top 100 (20 films, 80 TV series) are chosen from these votes. Out of those 100 candidates, the Best Work and an Individual Award are chosen from a range of industry professionals. In addition, an Anime Fan Award is selected through another round of voting.
Here are the winners:
- Best Work (Film): Look Back
- Best Work (TV): Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End
- Anime Fan Award: The Birth of Kitaro: The Mystery of GeGeGe
Here are the Individual Award winners:
- Writer: Hiroyuki Yoshino (The Birth of Kitaro: The Mystery of GeGeGe)
- Director: Kiyotaka Oshiyama (Look Back)
- Animator: Toko Yatabe (The Birth of Kitaro: The Mystery of GeGeGe)
- Visual Artist: Mai Ichioka (The Birth of Kitaro: The Mystery of GeGeGe)
- Sound Artists: Evan Call (Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End)
