Sonic X Shadow Generations Has Surpassed 2 Million Units Sold

We think Keanu had a hand in this happening.

SEGA, as both a game developer and publisher, has been on a unique roll as of late. If you recall, in 2024, they either made or published several top-tier gaming titles that all sold well and were critically praised. One of the games they directly had a hand in was Sonic X Shadow Generations, which took the beloved generations title and added in some Shadow the Hedgehog-themed content to flesh out his story even further. The game had already done well after launch by reaching a million sold quickly. Now, though, SEGA has revealed in a new press release that the game has crossed 2 million sold!

You might be curious why this is a “big deal.” The first answer is that this means Sonic X Shadow Generations has surpassed the sales of the original Sonic Generations title, which is impressive. Second, as also noted in the SEGA press release, this game’s success coincides with the movie success of Sonic The Hedgehog 3, which featured Shadow the Hedgehog in a key role. That film surpassed the previous two live-action films, cementing the trilogy as box office successes.

Plus, those who played the game know that there was a special DLC crossover with the third movie, in which Keanu voices Shadow in the game.
