After getting some hands-on experience with the upcoming action-adventure game Phantom Blade Zero during Summer Game Fest 2024, I felt that we didn’t receive much information about the game. However, the developer of the game, S-Game, has posted on the official Phantom Blade Zero X account that a new trailer for the game will be released on January 21st at 8 PM PT / 11 PM ET.
Here’s what the official X post says:
A brand-new #PhantomBladeZero trailer is coming on January 21st at 8 PM PST! Witness an intense, unedited Boss Fight gameplay video that showcases our bold innovations and deep dive into crafting the ultimate melee combat experience. Join us in celebrating the Year of the Snake!
I’m already sold on the game, and I can’t wait to see another trailer for the game. Heck, I can’t wait to get some more hands-on again while we’re at it.
What is Phantom Blade Zero
While it was initially assumed based on previous trailers and the game’s design, Phantom Blade Zero is not a Soulslike title. This was confirmed by a representative from S-Game whom I spoke to during Summer Game Fest. Instead, the game is described as a “Kung-Fu Punk” title, emphasizing how S-Game has integrated martial arts combat with mechanics from modern action RPGs as the game’s foundation. Think of it more as a Devil May Cry or a God of War, as the game has a much faster pace with the player performing frantic attacks and constantly dodging and parrying to make it through the game.
There’s still no ETA for when Phantom Blade Zero will be released, but don’t expect it before 2026. It will be available on PlayStation 5 and PC when it does launch. Plans for an Xbox Series X|S version haven’t been revealed, but they also haven’t been ruled out.
