Back in December 2025, FromSoftware and Bandai teased that they would be hosting an Elden Ring Nightreign Closed Network Test for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. All we were waiting for was the announcement of when we could sign up and jump into this new world. That day has come, as sign-ups for Elden Ring Nightreign have gone live starting today!
Players can head over to Nightreign.com/nt to sign up for PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, but unfortunately, there is no option for PC at this time. Be sure to register soon, as the registration period ends on January 20 at 6 AM PT / 9 AM ET.

Elden Ring Nightreign is an exciting new chapter in the Elden Ring universe, offering a bold twist on the franchise’s formula. Unlike the original Elden Ring or its expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree, this adventure introduces a roguelike structure. Players, either solo or in teams of up to three, must spend three in-game days preparing to face a mysterious boss on the final night. Success unlocks new challenges, while failure forces a complete reset, staying true to the high-stakes roguelike gameplay we’ve grown to love. What’s more, is that players will also see some of their favorite ( or not so favorite ) bosses from the Dark Souls games make an appearance as well. At least one of them has been confirmed, with the appearance of the Nameless King showing up in the Elden Ring Nightreign trailer.
This innovative fusion of Soulslike and roguelike elements ventures into uncharted territory for FromSoftware, sparking both excitement and hesitation. FromSoftware’s history with online multiplayer, dating back to Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls, and Elden Ring has been a mixed bag. This track record leaves me uncertain about how well the cooperative aspect of Nightreign will fare.
That said, I have hope. FromSoftware’s Hidetaka Miyazaki once mentioned in an interview with PC Gamer that he wasn’t opposed to exploring new directions for multiplayer in future games. It’s almost ironic, given how closely Nightreign aligns with that idea. You can’t help but wonder if Miyazaki was subtly hinting at this project but couldn’t reveal it at the time. Now that it’s a reality, I can’t wait to see how FromSoftware’s vision for this ambitious co-op experience unfolds—and perhaps even surpasses our expectations.
There is no release date yet for Elden Ring Nightreign. Unlike the Closed Network Test, the full game will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
