Until its release later this year, whenever that may be, the Nintendo Switch 2 will be analyzed to death, and many will weigh in on what should happen, what could happen, and how things should roll out. Many within Nintendo have noted that things “need to go smoothly” in the transition so that the company doesn’t lose gamers in the transfer from one console to another. To that end, many have reported that the “delayed release” of the new console is because The Big N wants to ensure it has plenty of units to give people who pre-order and buy on day one.
Yet, it’s fair to say that scalpers will want to pounce on those who CAN’T get things done on day one or in pre-orders, and that will cause much frustration. However, industry analyst Paul Gale has a solution to this. He recommends, as you can see below that the new console be pre-ordered through the Nintendo Switch Online service…
Thank you, Stealth, and yeah…it would be great!
– First pre-orders given to members that have had NSO subscriptions for at least three months (call it a 24 hour window).
– Second batch of pre-orders given to all NSO members (let’s say, a 6 day time frame).
– On day 8, open…— Paul Gale (@PaulGaleNetwork) January 26, 2025
It’s indeed a unique idea, and he’s also correct in that the Nintendo Alarmo had this “ordering process,” and it worked so well that there was limited stock left, and store releases had to be delayed.
Whether this will solve every potential problem with the Nintendo Switch 2’s launch is unclear. Furthermore, even with the tiered time system, it’s fair to think that some scalpers DO have NSO and play the Switch regularly, so it wouldn’t block all the scalpers.
Still, it’s something to consider, as The Big N definitely wants this launch to be as big and gamer-packed as possible.
