Exploration
Lets go over what we can see thanks to this trailer. First off, we get a lore drop that Alchemy is banned and seen as evil in this new land. Yumia has a goal to make it be a positive change for the world rather than being seen as an evil force of taint. Yumia’s idea to help alchemy be seen as a good force is to find the lost history of the Aladissian Empire. Alchemy was seen as the cause of the cataclysmic event that wiped the empire off the map.
We also see that exploration has added a lot of mechanics such as double jumping and the big surprise, a new bike. Yumia can get on a motor bike to move around the world. Yumia also gets a gun to find resources and to solve puzzles. You also get a new mechanic with the Energy system. You can use energy to perform alchemy or defend yourself against giant falls. You will need to refill your Energy meter to use more of it.
The dungeons in Atelier Yumia are known as ruins. There are areas in the game known as manabound regions. These regions will deplete your Energy gauge just by being in them.
Synthesis
With synthesis, the items strength you create will depend on the quality of the materials you synthesize into it. Also if you are uncomfortable with understanding synthesis you can use auto synthesize which will automatically put the highest quality ingredients to make the item.
This new system is aiming to have as much freedom to create items to your personal play-style. Those who want a faster paced experience can do so with auto synthesize, whereas those who want to be slow and methodical with their items can do so too.
Combat
Battles in Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist Of Memories & the Envisioned Land will be in real time. You can decide to be in the inner range or outer range of enemies during combat. Perfect evasions result in counter attacks by the character who evaded it. Like in every Atelier game, battle will be easier with the effects your equipment has based on how you synthesized them. You can stun enemies and deal greater damage once the enemies are stunned.
Camping and Building
At camps, you can make food that helps give you added passive effects and timed stat boosts. You are also able to build your base up with the building mechanic. At your base you can also change your outfit. This is common for most Atelier games, though I wonder how many outfits will be in the base game.
We were also sent a special image to commemorate the game of Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land. I am excited and looking forward to see how GUST pushes the series even further as I loved Atelier Ryza 3!
Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land will launch March 21st, 2025 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
