Milan Records today releases DAN DA DAN (ORIGINAL SERIES SOUNDTRACK) with music by composer kensuke ushio. Available everywhere now, the album features original score music written by ushio for the new hit anime series about two teenagers with supernatural powers in a fight against both spirits and aliens.
Based on the hugely popular anime series by Yukinobu Tatsu, DAN DA DAN packs an electrifying blend of sci-fi, horror and comedy, and required an eclectic soundscape to match. Known for his compositions for Chainsaw Man and A Silent Voice, anime veteran kensuke ushio delivers an upbeat, electronic soundtrack with influences across disco, funk, house and more, echoing the anime’s truly unique blend of genres and providing the perfect soundtrack to the action-packed story.
Of the soundtrack, composer kensuke ushio says, “When I first read the original comic of DAN DA DAN, I was captivated by the attitude to encapsulate various cultures to create a new story. The occult, UFO, rom-com, old Japanese movies, you can see the bits and pieces of those elements sampled in the storyline. Thinking back ‘sampling’ was always there in the music I grew up with. For this project, my goal was to create music unlike anything you’ve ever heard before, featuring a variety of samplings (legit!), yet still be a cohesive part of DAN DA DAN. When you’re done listening to this record, please go to the record store to dig for music you can sample!”
DAN DA DAN marks the directorial debut from Fuga Yamashiro and is the latest series from cutting-edge animation studio Science SARU (The Colors Within, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off). The series’ first season is currently available to stream in the US via Crunchyroll, Netflix and Hulu. For more information, please visit https://anime-dandadan.com/en/.
