We are just a few short weeks away from the release of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Today, Xbox and Bethesda decided to release a 14-minute gameplay deep dive on YouTube.
If you’ve been following Indiana Jones and the Great Circle for a while, you will know that we have already had some short looks at gameplay. However, we didn’t really know anything about how the moment-to-moment play would fit together and exactly what the structure would be. The gameplay deep dive answered a lot of those questions and left me with a clearer picture of what Indiana Jones and the Great Circle really is… an adventure.
During the deep dive presented by Pete Ward audio director at Machine Games. We get a deeper look at how combat and stealth work, as well as how important it can be to divert away from the golden path.
In terms of structure, the game seems to be that of open sandbox areas with a main quest and side activities you can do throughout. Of course, the aspect of the game that sets it apart from say Tomb Raider or Uncharted for most people will be the first-person camera. As was previously confirmed, the majority of gameplay is in first-person with some traversal actions switching to third-person.
For me, based on this gameplay I think the focus on stealth and adventure through discovery, is what makes Indiana Jones and the Great Circle stand out compared to similar titles. Of course, developed by Machine Games, with Todd Howard serving as producer. I think it’s fair to say expectations are reasonably high for this game.
We don’t have too long to wait as Indiana Jones and the Great Circle releases on December 9th, 2024 for Xbox, PC, and Gampass (December 6th for Premium Edition Owners). The title is also heading to the PlayStation 5, but that won’t be for a bit longer in 2025.
