Anime fans were alerted today that Good Smile Company’s U.S. store experienced a security breach that led to having customers’ credit card information stolen and abused.
The claim came on November 19 on the r/animefigures Subreddit. There, it was stated that their payment system had been compromised for over a month and that credit card information was being siphoned by malicious actors. Despite the breach, Good Smile Company hasn’t issued a public statement nor have they taken action to address the situation.
Wario64, a popular social media personality for posting deals on X and Bluesky, acknowledged the breach about a week after the Subreddit post. They have since deleted a post where they promoted Black Friday deals on goodsmileus.com.
Other users have reported on social media about their credit card information being stolen as well.
Until this is dealt with, the recommended action would be to monitor your bank statements closely and report any suspicious activity to your bank and/or credit card company. Another action you could take to ultimately deal with the situation immediately is to freeze and cancel any credit or debit cards and have new cards issued by your bank or credit card company… even if your information hasn’t been compromised.
If you are looking to buy any Good Smile Co. products, your best bet right now would be to purchase them from a secure and trusted online retailer.
Be aware and be safe.
