Premium Bandai has announced that they have teamed up with U.S. Military Brand Alpha Industries to create an MA-1 bomber jacket themed around Gundam: The Witch From Mercury.
Themed after the pilot of the XVX-016 Gundam Aerial mobile suit, Suletta Mercury, the jacket features specific design elements that make it one of the most understated and subtle ways to advertise one’s love of the anime. Crafted from Alpha Industries’ durable nylon fabrics, the design doesn’t stray far from the original, instead employing badges such as the in-universe Asticassia School of Technology badge on the right breast, while Suletta’s name tag is affixed on the left.
The back is emblazoned with a leather Holder insignia — given to those granted the right to marry Mirione — as well as the series’ name and Suletta’s student ID LP041. The jacket is available in black, complemented by a mustard lining, and will, of course, feature the MA-1’s iconic elements, including the ‘remove before flight’ tags, which have been updated to bear Suletta’s name and Alpha Industries. The jacket also still features some vestiges from its ’50s military history, with a cigarette pocket affixed to the sleeve. The bomber jacket’s zipper even allows the wearer to reverse the jacket if desired.
Available sizes range from S to XXL. Pre-orders are open now and end on November 17. The expected delivery window of the jackets is December 2024. To snag one, it will set you back $378.
