It seems we can’t go a week without yet another company either going out of business or laying off employees, thanks to the violate nature of the gaming industry. Sadly, we report that Tequila Works, the developer behind Song of Nunu: A League of Legends Story and Time has announced on its LinkedIn page that has canceled an unannounced game, which will result in several members of the studio being let go. Which is going to hurt them, as the developer doesn’t have as many members to begin with.
With deep regret, we must inform of the decision to cancel an unannounced game. This tough decision means we will be restructuring the studio to concentrate on the development of only one game. These changes will have an impact to a small number of roles at the studio.
This is an incredibly difficult time, and our focus is to provide the support and guidance to those affected.
While I’m just someone on the outside, It stinks to continue to see this happening, regardless of how big or small the developer that this is happening to is. While people keep saying that this year has been the best year for gaming, and while it is, it’s also one of the worst as we’ve seen just about or more people being laid off and companies closed than we did in 2023.
Hopefully, those affected will be able to find jobs at another developer or something else to keep them going.
