As of September 10, 2024 (that’s today), PlayStation revealed its mid-refresh of the PlayStation 5 with the PlayStation 5 Pro. This console, according to Mark Cerny will be PlayStation’s most powerful console and by way of that, also its most expensive console. While it will afford gamers with higher resolutions and frame rates, it also will probably cost more than most gamers are willing to pay.
Still, there are quite a few of you out there who have already stated you can’t wait for the PlayStation 5 Pro to go on sale. Thus, this article is specifically for you.
Is the PS5 Pro Up For Sale Now?
No. It isn’t. While the PlayStation 5 Pro was just announced, the console will not be available until November 7th, 2024. However, PlayStation did announce that it will go up for pre-order as of September 26, 2024.
Where Can I Pre-Order The PlayStation 5 Pro?
While PlayStation hasn’t revealed that, the usual suspects are a prime candidate. That includes the PlayStation Direct Store, Best Buy, Amazon, Gamestop, and Walmart for those in the US and Canada.
How Much Does The PlayStation 5 Pro Cost?
You’re going to wait to sit down because this is going to be a lot to take in. Ready? The PlayStation 5 Pro is going to cost you $699.99 $700. This will include the PS5 Pro, a controller (I hope) and that’s it. What this doesn’t include is a disc drive, as this will come separately and if you already have a disc-based PS5 and play on upgrading to the PS5 Pro, you’re going to wait to continue to play your physical games. That will add 79.99 dollars to the cost. Let’s also not forget that the stand will not be included as well, but there’s no pricing on the stand. Let’s just assume that the stand for the PS5 Pro will cost as much as the one available for the OG PlayStation 5 or the Slim, $29.99.
If you’re purchasing all of that, your total comes to $809.97!
(Now that I think about it, it appears that the PS5 Pro uses the same stand as the PS5 Slim and the same disc drive. So if you can find those on sale now, you’ll be saving yourself some money.)
Should I Purchase The PS5 Pro?
I can’t answer that, Dave. That’s your call. But if you’re happy with your PS5, then I don’t see a reason to do so. The PS5 Pro, like the PS4 Pro, is for those who want the best of the best and don’t mind spending extra for a better experience. If that’s you, go for it.
You can expect The Outerhaven to continue to cover all things about the PlayStation 5 Pro, and we’ll update this article as new information is released.
