During your adventures in Towerborne, you’ll get the opportunity to unlock several Umbras, which are those creatures that accompany you in battle. When you first start playing, you’re given one, but there are several others that you can unlock. One in particular is the Sten Umbra, which can be unlocked by reaching the North Eastern part of the map. You’ll come across it while partaking in the “Lichenfell Cores venture.”
How To Unlock The Sten Umbra
Once you reach the Umbra Strine, inside you’ll find several creatures that are standing near followers. At first, it doesn’t make any sense, however, each creature is standing next to a certain amount of flowers. To unlock the Umbra, you’ll have to pet each creature in order, starting at the creature with one flower, all the way up to the fifth creature.
Once this has been done, the Umbra will show up, along with some dialog. After which, you’ll be able to collect the Umbra and that’s it.
Unlike the first Umbra you’ve collected, Iska, the Sten Umbra has a stationary ability that can be used in front or behind enemies. It then sits next to them, doing damage until the enemy is dead or the Umba ability has finished. I find that the Sten Umbra is useful when you’re fighting bosses and stun them. Dropping the Sten next to them, and attacking burns through the enemy’s health fast.
Towerborne is currently available as an early access title for PC (Steam). Towerborne will head to the Xbox Series X|S later in 2025.
