SNK announced today that Street Fighter 6’s Chun-Li and Ken would be joining Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves next year as DLC fighters. After a quiet spell after the Mai Shiranui was revealed at Gamescom last month, it seems as though these will be their current Street Fighter 6 runs of the characters at the moment.
Ken and Chun-Li will be having their Street Fighter 6 costumes so far, so the movesets might be similar. With Street Fighter and Fatal Fury mechanic systems taking things in favor of aggressive strides, the styles of play may have a smooth translation. As for their official in-game renders, this has yet to be revealed.
The timing for the DLC announcement seems to be about right. Terry just made his way into Street Fighter 6 this week. Some fans have taken his World Tour mode interactions with Ryu to heart. Nearly all of Capcom and SNK collaboration fighting games will be available, for modern consoles by the end of 2025 with two of Capcom’s games coming: Capcom vs SNK Pro and Capcom vs SNK 2. Capcom Fighting Collection 2 will host these. On SNK’s end, SNK vs Capcom: SVC Chaos and SNK vs Capcom: Match of the Millennium are already available.
Thanks to this, fans are already hoping for more from both companies in terms of a new Capcom vs SNK fighting game to come. Both companies have stated, this year and before, that they are both open to another collaboration title.
Challengers From The Streets
The pairing of DLC lore-wise matches up. In nearly each fighting game in the collaboration, both Ken and Terry, as well as Chun-Li and Mai, have special intros before their fights start. This considers them as rivals of each other. According to the interview with Capcom’s Street Fighter VI today, at the special SNK presentation: these characters are considered direct rivals of each other.
Both Mai and Chun-Li being the queens of the genre by being the first female characters to appear in both iconic fighting games. Chun-Li in 1991 with Street Fighter 2 and Mai in Fatal Fury 2. As to what brings both fighters to Southtown may be revealed in their potential trailers in the coming months.
For Ken, it could be obvious that he’s probably still in hiding during the events of Street Fighter 6. Terry’s stomping grounds will prove to be that challenge Ken needs to keep the fire running. Street Fighter VI considers the events of Capcom vs SNK as canon, having Terry reference it during his story mode. This interaction sets up the next match between Terry and Ken.
Chun-Li’s reason might be a bit more complex. Perhaps the former Interpol agent has some connection with the new crimelords of Southtown. Also, the imminent return of both Geese and Kain. Perhaps Mai might be teaming up with Chun-Li to deal with her “tip”.
More City of the Wolves TGS news
Ken will be available in the Summer of 2025, while Chun-Li will be available in the winter for the first City of the Wolves DLC pass, which is already included with the Special Edition version of the game – which is practically the base game.
Coincidentally, Chun-Li’s DLC release date may match Mai’s Street Fighter 6 DLC release date. 3 mystery DLC fighters are already slated for Summer 2025, Fall 2025, and early 2026. The full base roster has yet to be revealed in its entirety. As stated by SNK, their City of the Wolves DLC roster plans have already covered three years.
For those who are at the Tokyo Game Show this week, Mai, Rock, Terry, Preecha, and Vox Reaper, will be in a playable demo of Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves on the floor.
