Nintendo of Europe has announced a significant change in its leadership. Stephan Bole, who served as President for six years, has decided to step down after a long tenure of over 35 years with the company. Bole, who took on the role of President in 2018 after Satoru Shibata, has been a key figure in shaping the company’s European strategy. His departure marks the end of his full-time professional career with Nintendo.
Luciano Pereña, who has been with Nintendo since 1994 and previously served as Chief Financial Officer, will now take over as the new CEO and President of NoE. In his statement (thanks VGC), Pereña expressed gratitude for Bole’s leadership: “On behalf of the entire company, I extend my sincere thanks to Stephan Bole for his outstanding leadership and many years dedicated to Nintendo.” He added, “I am honored to continue Nintendo’s purpose of putting smiles on faces, and I am confident that this leadership group and united European team will allow us to build on our company’s legacy of delivering unique experiences.”
Additionally, Laurent Fischer will assume the role of Chief Operating Officer, and Tom Enoki has been promoted to Senior Managing Director. This leadership change coincides with Nintendo’s recent reorganization of its European entities into a single entity, Nintendo of Europe SE, aimed at improving business efficiency and decision-making.
