Concord, the PS5 and PC shooter, is being taken offline just over a week after its release. Developer Firewalk Studios announced the decision, citing a lack of player engagement rather than technical issues as the primary reason for this drastic move. The game’s failure to attract players speaks to its lack of appeal, leading to an unprecedented situation for a title of its scale and budget.
“While many qualities of the experience resonated with players, we also recognize that other aspects of the game and our initial launch didn’t land the way we’d intended,” Firewalk Studios stated. The company had been silent about Concord’s shortcomings until this recent announcement.
The game will be taken offline starting this Friday, September 6th, with no clear indication of when or if it will return. Firewalk Studios mentioned that they need time to “explore options” and “determine the best path ahead.” As part of this process, all sales of Concord will stop immediately, and refunds will be issued to those who purchased the game.
