I’ve talked to the developer of Path of Exile 2, Grinding Gear Games, regarding the upcoming title many times throughout 2024. However, one question that GGG was never able to provide me was when Path of Exile 2 early access would begin. Mainly because this early is a huge slice of Path of Exile 2 and Grinding Gear Games was adamant that it didn’t want to rush to release this beta because of this. However, as of Gamescom 2024, the cat is out of the bag.
During the Xbox Gamescom 2024 show, Grinding Gears announced that the Path of Exile 2 early access will start on November 15, 2024. Mark your calendars, because if you enjoyed Path of Exile or enjoy isometric action RPGs, then PoE 2 is going to rock you.
The Path of Exile 2 early access will be made playable for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Outside of my talks with Grinding Gear Games, I had a chance to play Path of Exile 2 during Gamescom 2024, and I was blown away. Not only because everything is just better in that game; the refined combat, the skill system, the updated equipment system, and the new Witch class, but also having full controller support. When I grabbed the controller during Gamescom 2024, it just felt natural. It wasn’t awkward at all. I was handled the cfontroller and I jumped right in like I had played the game before (I didn’t) and I could tell that Grinding Gears had put a lot of time into getting the demo for the event just right.
I don’t know about you, but I fully expect that PoE 2’s early access is going to take up a lot of my time, and I’m fine with that.
