After The Apothecary Diaries’ mangaka, Nekokurage, was handed a 10-month suspended sentence in prison, and an 11 million yen fine (about $71,000) for tax evasion, fans wondered what would happen to the series. Square Enix stated that the company is not particularly considering canceling the manga.
Right now, Nekokurage’s suspended sentence is for three of the ten years meaning that if she exhibits good behavior for three years, she will not be sent to prison. Square Enix didn’t comment further on what they plan to do with the series but at least fans know that, at this time, a continuation is probably at some point in time.
