Suda51’s remaster, Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered is riding its way to release this Halloween October 31, 2024.
In the release date trailer, Grasshopper Manufacture and SUDA51 detail all the new additions and the game’s release date. Immediately, you can tell Suda’s influence on the trailer. With the many cuts and credits to himself, Shinji Mikami, Tadayuki Nomaru, and Q Hayashida. It is somewhat strange that Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill) is not mentioned as he originally composed the score for the game for the original release back in 2011. The grindhouse style and achievements noted in the trailer like the mention of God Hand, and SUDA being the main influencer for public events.
In the remaster, Garcia will be getting 4 costumes. Placia Garica, the appearance he begins in the game. Ocho Corozones or “Eight Hearts”. This is for those who played Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes. This look is an alternate form for Johnson, Garica’s Gun who transforms after the untimely death of his partner in the faux SotD sequel, DAMNED: Dark Knight. Demonio Garica or Demon Garica. This outfit does have an effect as it raises your attack power. Last outfit is Kamikaze Garia. This outfit is for those who are the most hardcore of Grasshopper fans as this is a nod to the character Kamikaze Wataru from Kurayami Dance, a SUDA51-written manga that spun out of some of the earlier Damned concepts, and is unlocked after clearing the game once.
Also noted in this edition is that there will be a New Game+ mode that will carry over progress and weapons from each play-through. As well as 60FPS/4K Visual support. Note however that the Nintendo Switch version is locked at 30 FPS. Other systems will be at 60FPS.
Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered will be released on October 31 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Steam, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows. The Nintendo Switch version will be at a later date as it is marked as *under construction according to the main website.
