SNK released the Billy Kane trailer for Fatal Fury: City of The Wolves yesterday. You can’t keep a good lackey down or out. After Geese’s demise in Real Bout Fatal Fury, Billy has come back to take revenge against Terry. Thanks to the defeat, Billy Kane has taken over the Howard Connection and the powers that come with it. How this will affect the power struggle between himself and Kain remains to be seen.
Billy isn’t about overalls and union jack badanas anymore. He’s got a goatee and sunglasses. However, one thing is still certain about Billy: he still cares for the environment… sort of. Just check out the back of his jacket. He replaced the “No Smoking” sign with a Captain Planet theme. As to where he’s been, SNK’s official statement might shed some light on the matter:
“As a loyal right-hand man to the infamous Geese Howard, Billy has taken the reins of the Howard Connection following his late mentor’s demise. Though he now leads the syndicate, he is consumed by the challenge of guiding his bereaved family of associates into a new era. One thing remains certain amidst the darkness and turmoil: Billy harbors a deep grudge against Terry Bogard, the man responsible for his master’s death.”
SNK has stated, in interviews, that City of the Wolves will have a mix of old, new, and newish old, Fatal Fury characters, and Billy is definitely a veteran in this realm. Noted to be the former champion of the Southtown King of Fighters Tournament(yes – this is different from the actual game King of Fighters) back in the first Fatal Fury, the lust for revenge is certain. It’s not like BIlly has been a no-show in SNK games these days. He’s been in KOF XV and his new kit shows that he’s taken in some of these moves despite it being two different universes.
Kane still holds the advantage with his three-split-staff. The REV abilities show signs of him getting more multi-hit specials. Billy also has an aerial counter move for swatting pesky jump attacks. Billy’s Break moves do feel like Soulcalibur’s Kilik is here. Chris Sharpes will be voicing him in the English version.
Billy Kane character number 10 after Kevin Rian‘s Evo 2024 reveal. Thanks to these two returning, there’s no telling who will be the next reveal. That, in itself, is pretty exciting for the next Maximum Mayhem tournament.
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves will be available early 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X | S, and PC through Steam and Epic Game Store.
