Apparently, M. Bison has lost his memory and still ended up in Street Fighter VI. One thing’s for sure: Capcom didn’t forget that Bison was a dictator with a horse at some point. While his signature hat sits in a chair at the Ruined Lab stage, his Psycho Power abilities are still intact within the former Shadowloo dictator. The trailer was leaked from a Taiwan twitter account, but is already unable to be retrieved. M. Bison was already revealed at Summer Games Fest as a Season 2 character yesterday.
How M. Bison survived his final bout with Ryu, in Street Fighter V’s DLC, seems to be a mystery for now. Perhaps it was a clone that survived who thinks he’s Bison? Or perhaps a certain roster character is controlling him. Game wise: Bison’s only missed a handful of appearances, in the series, since his 1991 debut to replace Sagat. Bison was no where to be found throughout the 3 series, but mentioned in passing to have his regime destroyed. Whether he’s still a boss level threat remains to be seen. The new horse Bison has got seems to feel like a callback to his Street Fighter 1994 movie portrait. The late Raul Julia would be proud.
Power Mad Psycho Arts
Bison still sports the Knee Press Nightmare super art and Psycho Crusher of old. His Psycho Crusher seems to go through normal projectiles and powered up ones as seen with Guile’s perfect Sonic Booms. Bison still has his crouching high kick which pushes him forward for a knockdown. His normals still hold lots of priority. The Psycho Crusher probably has a quicker speed than E. Honda’s torpedo, yet a smaller range.
Mysteriously, Bison’s teleporting abilities are not present in the trailer. This could be a weakened Bison at best lorewise. Doesn’t mean that this Bison isn’t scary enough. Even his Drive Dash is a run. His Street Fighter VI Ultra Super, called Psycho Punisher returns, which is similar to Akuma’s Adamant Flame. Looks like he even gains a Fei Long-esque rekka based attack that can use Drive meter for EX. His Head Press has some sort of detonator on EX. Psycho Mine, which is something he can implant onto opponents from his Street Fighter V appearance. Head Press seems to get more options including a throw. Bison’s Level 3 lands on familiar territory with the Psycho Crusher and slam. As to how these are all done, we’ll wait until the Guide comes.
In Street Fighter VI, Everything is fair game
Usually, Bison flies or teleports in for his intros, but on a horse? Well, Sagat did have a tiger for his intro. Rugal had that panther in King of Fighters. T Hawk has his Eagle. Cammy has a cat now. Dhalsim’s victory screen has his elephant show up anywhere now. High time for pets to come through in this game more than they have ever done so in the past.
M. Bison looks menacing enough to shake up the hierarchy when he’s released this summer for Season 2 of Street Fighter VI. He joins Elena, Mai Shiranui, and Terry Bogard. Between the guest characters showing up in a main timeline Street Fighter game for the first time, and Bison making yet another comeback, anything is clearly possible here. M. Bison will be joining the World Warrior cast on June 26th.
Street Fighter VI is available on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
