The fallout from Game of Thrones wasn’t what HBO hoped for in many respects. However, with the arrival of its dragon-fueled spinoff, things finally turned around. Now, just a few days before Season 2 premieres and a fierce war starts, HBO executives have revealed that House of the Dragon Season 3 has been greenlit. That means that there will be more bloodshed, more twists, more dragons, and more history to be made as a house continues to divide itself into oblivion! So, yeah, fun times!
In a statement, the higher-ups of HBO stated how happy they have been with the franchise:
“George, Ryan, and the rest of our incredible executive producers, cast, and crew, have reached new heights with the phenomenal second season of House of the Dragon,” said Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President, HBO Programming, Head of HBO Drama Series and Films. “We are in awe of the dragon-sized effort the entire team has put into the creation of a spectacular season two, with a scope and scale that is only rivaled by its heart. We could not be more thrilled to continue the story of House Targaryen and watch this team burn bright again for season three.”
Undoubtedly, HBO is confirming House of the Dragon Season 3 so they can start filming now and get ready for any time jumps or recastings that they may need to do, much like they did throughout much of Season 1. In the meantime, get ready for the Season 2 premiere this Sunday!
