Naoki ‘Yoshi-P’ Yoshida, director of Final Fantasy XIV, issued an apology for the problems faced by players during the launch of the Dawntrail expansion. He assured players that Square Enix is working swiftly to fix the issues identified in version 7.0.
The launch of Dawntrail was smoother compared to previous expansions, such as Endwalker, with minimal launch queues and a few bugs that are either fixed or not critical. However, some players encountered significant problems. Issues in dungeon and raid instances like Dragonsong’s Reprise (Ultimate), Minstrel’s Ballad: Shinryu’s Domain, and Delubrum Reginae (Savage) caused mechanics to freeze, preventing completion. To address these, Yoshida mentioned that a client patch would be implemented soon.
Xbox players also reported that the game client became unresponsive while moving between zones. Yoshida suggested using quieter servers to mitigate this issue temporarily.
Yoshida emphasized that the issues are a high priority and are being systematically addressed. He apologized for any inconvenience and promised a hotfix, likely within the week, accompanied by a brief maintenance period. The development team remains committed to resolving any urgent issues that arise post-expansion release.
Players are encouraged to use the Dynamis data center to avoid login queues in crowded servers like Gilgamesh.
