Sydney, Australia, June 13, 2024 – Ravensburger, the award-winning publisher of games, puzzles, and toys, announced the newest set coming to the wildly popular Disney Lorcana Trading Card Game lineup. During today’s Lorecast event, Ravensburger revealed details about Shimmering Skies, the fifth set of Disney Lorcana TCG, that not only introduces new Disney characters and evolved game mechanics but also gives players a glimpse of what’s next for the realm now that the power-hungry Ursula glimmer has been defeated. Shimmering Skies will be released first at local game stores on August 9, 2024, followed by mass market retailers and Disney Store on August 23, 2024. Ravensburger also announced a Shimmering Skies foil card featuring alternative art that will be available for a limited time in new, stickered copies of Disney Villainous: Introduction to Evil board game in Q3 2024.
Shimmering Skies
In Shimmering Skies, the realm of Lorcana holds a great festival to celebrate its recent victory over Ursula, which concluded the previous set, Ursula’s Return. While most of Lorcana participates in the vibrant, fun-filled activities, a new mystery begins as our Illumineers search for a way to repair the worsening damage Ursula caused to the Great Illuminary.
Shimmering Skies features Disney’s Wreck-It Ralph with the introduction of characters like Vanellope Von Schweetz and Fix-it Felix Jr. In addition, players can anticipate new gameplay mechanics with an evolved story with gorgeous art – all of which is infused with electric energy that amplifies both the celebration and the gameplay. More details on mechanics and other cards will be unveiled closer to availability. All cards in this set can be used to update existing Disney Lorcana TCG decks or played alongside the previously released sets, The First Chapter, Rise of the Floodborn, Into the Inklands, and Ursula’s Return.
The Disney Lorcana TCG set Shimmering Skies will include two starter decks featuring a combination of Emerald/Steel or Amethyst/Ruby (AU$29.99/NZ$32.99), booster packs of additional cards (AU$9.99/NZ$10.99) and a new Illumineer’s Trove (AU$99.99/NZ$109.99). New accessories include two new playmats, featuring Mirabel from Disney’s Encanto and the “Accomplished Mystic” glimmer of Belle from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (AU$35.99/NZ$39.99), plus a *NEW* 9-pocket portfolio featuring artwork from Disney Lorcana artist Nicholas Kole (AU$35.99/NZ$39.99). Card sleeves (AU$17.99/NZ$19.99) and deck boxes (AU$10.99/NZ$11.99) featuring Disney’s Tiana and Aladdin will also be available.
Also releasing alongside Shimmering Skies is Disney Lorcana Gateway, the perfect entry point for those new to Disney Lorcana. Gateway is designed for two players of any age and skill level to learn how to play together, step by step, and build two complete Disney Lorcana TCG 60-card decks!
Disney Lorcana TCG Card in Disney Villainous: Introduction to Evil
A special-edition, foil version of a new Shimmering Skies card will be available in new copies of Disney Villainous: Introduction to Evil. First introduced in 2023 as a limited Disney100 offering, Disney Villainous: Introduction to Evil reintroduces some of the franchise’s first Disney Villains – Maleficent, Captain Hook, Ursula, and Prince John – with a reduced price point, beginner-friendly video resources and “remastered” gameplay based off both fan feedback and the Ravensburger team’s learnings while developing the Disney Villainous system.
To celebrate the game’s launch at mass retailers and hobby stores nationwide, the Disney Villainous team lends their established art style to a Shimmering Skies card featuring Prince John. This Disney Lorcana TCG card can only be found in copies of the new Disney Villainous: Introduction to Evil game that features an identifying sticker on the front.
