New York Comic Con announced the attendance of Angy, the artist of the Semantic Error comic, as an official guest at this year’s show. While New York Comic Con has hosted several notable comic creators through the years, Angy will be the first high-profile guest in the realm of Korean comics, a category that has seen a meteoric rise in popularity in the western world in recent years.
Angy is an illustrator and comic artist from Korea whose earlier works include Mr. Kim and the Suspicious Wife and Master Baek’s Case Notes. Her most noteworthy work is the comic adaptation of Semantic Error, an iconic Boys Love series that has been widely celebrated in various formats, including the original webnovel, the popular webcomic, and the award-winning live action K-drama. The Semantic Error webcomic was serialized in English on Manta, where the series rose to become one of the most popular works of Korean Boys Love. In April 2024, Ize Press, the biggest and most prolific English-language publisher of Korean comics in print, announced a print release of Semantic Error, which immediately became the imprint’s most highly anticipated announcement of the year.
Information on Angy’s upcoming visit will be announced on Ize Press social media at a future date. New York Comic Con takes place from October 17 to 20. For more information, visit https://www.newyorkcomiccon.com/.
