Angel’s Egg to Receive 4K Remaster

By Josh PiedraMay 8, 2024
Angel's Egg

One of anime’s classic OVAs, Angel’s Egg, is getting a 4K remaster! The remaster created by Ghost in the Shell’s Mamoru Oshii is being done to commemorate the OVAs 40th anniversary next year.

Angel’s Egg was released on December 15, 1985, and was a collaboration between Oshii and Yoshitaka Amano who is famous for doing illustrations on the Final Fantasy series of video games. Amano was the art director on the project and handled character design, image boards, art settings, and color settings.

Angel’s Egg is a story based on Noah’s Ark and runs for around 71 minutes. It follows a girl who holds an egg in her arms in a submerged city and believes it’s an angel. She meets a boy carrying a huge gun who claims to be looking for a bird he saw in a dream. They develop sympathy; however, one night, the boy crushes the girl’s egg.
