Super Nintendo World has been one of the biggest hits in The Big N’s initiative to “expand their brand” outside of video games. The first park in Japan opened a few years ago, and in the United States, one is already set up in California, with another coming to Florida eventually. The goal of this park is to bring in new additions to bolster the number of franchises represented. Currently, there’s only the Mario-themed area of the park. However, a Donkey Kong entry is coming in 2024.
That’s where today’s news comes in. Universal Studios Japan posted on Twitter that the Donkey Kong expansion for Super Nintendo World has been delayed. It’ll still arrive in 2024, but instead of the Spring, it’ll arrive in “late 2024.”

“We apologize for any inconvenience caused to those who have been waiting. We will announce the opening date and other details as soon as they are decided.”
Obviously, if it’s getting delayed in Japan, the US versions of the DK expansion will get delayed as well. But clearly, they feel they need the delay, so let’s just give them time and let them cook. Just not bananas! We know how DK feels when you touch his banana horde.
