There are many reasons to be excited about the upcoming Sonic 3 film. After all, it’s being headed up by Jeff Fowler, who did the first two movies, and they were both great successes! Second, the first two films did some big jumps in quality in most people’s minds, so the third one could be the best yet. Finally, the third film will bring in none other…than Shadow the Hedgehog. The “ultimate lifeform” was the stinger image of the second film, and ever since, fans have been wondering who would voice the hedgehog edgelord.
…but…that’s the problem. Despite some special footage of Sonic 3 being shown at CinemaCon, it didn’t reveal the voice actor for Shadow the Hedgehog, and as Jeff Fowler himself noted…we aren’t going to find out soon.
Jeff Fowler, director of the upcoming “Sonic 3” movie spoke at #CinemaCon today with a teaser for the film.
“We won’t be revealing who is playing Shadow in the film because we want you to walk into his mystery,” he said to the press when asked about who was cast for the role. pic.twitter.com/bMS5c5P5IQ

That’s a bold choice, and it means that while we may see Shadow in the trailers for the movie, we’re not going to hear him like we did with Idris Elba as Knuckles for the last film. This could mean one of two things. First, it could mean they got a BIG voice actor to be him (like Keanu Reeves or Hayden Christensen; both of them have been “fan cast” for the role many times over.) Or, they might have a big surprise that they don’t want to spoil, not unlike how Tails’ voice actor (Colleen O’Shaughnessey) is the one from the video games.
Either way, the movie arrives this December, and things WILL be interesting with it.
