The irony of superhero films in this current year is hilarious. It used to be that NUMEROUS DC Comics or Marvel films would be lined up in a year and we’d be pumped to see them all. But in 2024, how many can you name that’s actually hyped? Thankfully, we might have a saving grace via Deadpool & Wolverine. Ryan Reynolds & Hugh Jackman are FINALLY coming together on the big screen (no, we’re not mentioning that “other movie,” it doesn’t exist!” and many can’t wait, and that includes its director, who was at CinemaCon presenting some footage to fans.
As Shawn Levy told fans (as noted by ComicBook.com), the third film is going to be much more than just another film with Deadpool and his “new best friend.”
“As far as crafting the Deadpool and Wolverine story, I just felt privileged every day because you’re talking about two massive movie stars in their most iconic roles. It also gave me an opportunity. It’s the third Deadpool movie, but it’s not Deadpool 3. It’s a different thing that’s very much Deadpool & Wolverine. And it’s not trying to copycat anything from the first two movies. They were awesome, but this is a two-hander character adventure.”
That sounds like a blast, and we can’t wait to see it when it releases this year.
