Say what you will about Marvel right now, but they’re not afraid to push things in bold directions and numerous directions depending on what they feel can make work. In the case of video games, they have multiple projects across several developers and systems that have intrigued gamers. One of them was a unique title featuring Captain America and Black Panther, but not many details were given. However, today, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra was unveiled, and it’s easily the most unique setting for a Marvel-based title yet.
The game takes place in the thralls of World War II in Paris, where a newly-arrived Captain America will come into conflict with the Black Panther as they each seek to find out the truth behind a Hydra plot. Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra looks pretty good based on what the trailer shows, even if gameplay isn’t present. The team at Skydance seems to have a firm vision of what they want, and that might make it something worth checking out when the game arrives in 2025.
You’ll find the game’s official synopsis and trailer below:
“In the chaos of war, worlds collide. Captain America and Azzuri, the Black Panther of the 1940s, must overcome their differences and form an uneasy alliance to confront their common enemy. Fighting alongside Gabriel Jones of the Howling Commandos, and Nanali, a Wakandan spy embedded in Occupied Paris, they must join forces to stop a sinister plot that threatens to turn the havoc of WWII into the ultimate rise of Hydra.”
