PlatinumGames has reported that Hideki Kamiya will be leaving the company as of October 12, 2023. This was announced on the PlatinumGames Twitter account just a few hours ago. Hideki Kamiya confirmed the news on his own Twitter account, stating the decision to leave was not an easy one but came after a lot of consideration on his part.
We regret to announce that Hideki Kamiya will be leaving PlatinumGames on October 12, 2023.
We are truly grateful for his creative ideas, leadership, and contribution to the growth of PlatinumGames from our start-up to this very day.
We believe that he will continue to succeed in his future endeavors as a game creator. We are looking forward to seeing the game industry grow into a better place with him in it. We wish him all the best for the future!
Hideki Kamiya got his start in the gaming industry working at Capcom in 1994 and worked on games such as Viewtiful Joe, Okami, Devil May Cry, and Resident Evil. Departing Capom in 2016, he went on to found PlatinumGames with several other former Capcom employees and went on to create several other titles, including Bayonetta.
Hideki Kamiya has not mentioned what his plans are once he does depart from PlatinumGames. It’s going to be interesting to see where he lands once he does eventually depart the company that he co-founded, and we wish him nothing but the best of luck.
