At long last, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth has a release date. Players will be able to join Cloud and friends on the second part of their three-part adventure on February 29th, 2023. During Sony’s State of Play today, Square Enix shared a new trailer of the game, ending with the release date announcement. Check it out below because there’s a lot going on here.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth previously showcased a trailer at the Summer Games Fest. And that trailer had a lot to analyze in it. And yet, this new one just about blows the previous trailer out of the Junon waters. This time around, the trailer shares first looks at Vincent Valentine, the Midgar Zolom, Kalm, The Gold Saucer, and the Junon Parade, to name just a few of the characters and locales it shows off.
While Cait Sith previously appeared in Final Fantasy Remake, the first installment of the trilogy, the trailer shares his voice for the first time. That’s right, Cait Sith has his traditional Scottish brogue from Advent Children. No word on who voices him yet. We also get a sneak peak at his trusty Moogle mount.
Overall, the trailer gives a great sense of how much of the original Final Fantasy VII this middle chapter will adapt. It also shows some exciting combat, notably with powerful magic attacks from Aerith. Last but not least, it hints at plot changes, notably with Zack appearing in Midgar with Cloud. Looks like they made it after all! Well, in some reality.
Players will be able to find out exactly what’s going on when Final Fantasy VII Rebirth arrives for PlayStation 5 on February 29th, 2024. Those who have yet to experience the first part of the remake trilogy can pre-order the Twin Pack, which will include Final Fantasy VII Remake and Rebirth as well as the connecting episode of Intergrade.
