Welcome to The Outerhaven’s guide to achieving the True Ending of 30XX! First and foremost, this guide will not contain spoilers as I will leave any and all story scenes/dialogue/etc, out of this guide so you can enjoy those moments for yourself; however, I will be explaining how to repair the Rev device in case you’re stuck and you don’t know what to do.
With that out of the way, how do we even unlock the Rev device?
Step 1: Beat the Game
This is pretty straightforward. Start a run in Standard Mode and successfully complete the run. When you do, you will bring the Rev device back to the home base, and Alexi will tell you that we can complete it. There are multiple things to collect, so let’s start with the left side of the platforms and the things you will need.
While I am listing these in steps, you can complete them in any order. Feel free to read the guide all the way through and remix it to your liking… just in case one step seems annoying and you don’t want to take care of it right away.
Step 2: Imbued Chronovane
Let’s get this one out of the way first. What you’ll need to do here is combine three items that you can find in a run. Once you have the three items, visit Highvault (Hoot Omega), and the stage will be completely different. It will be mostly void of enemies, but meteors will be raining down from the sky. At the end, Hoot Omega will assist you through the boss portion of the stage and then take one for the team. Once you complete the stage, you will combine the three items into the Imbued Chronovane.
So, what are the three items? They are:
- Chronopointer
- Hoot’s Hourglass
- Time Anchor
Now, you can reduce the RNG a little bit here by visiting the Smuggler in the home base. They will offer you up to 5 items in exchange for Memoria that you can use on your next run. When I completed mine, they had two of the three items I needed! Maybe you’ll be as lucky or even luckier than I was!
Also, if you possess two of the three items and enter stage 7, Delta has a high (or possibly guaranteed) chance to offer you the third as a challenge reward.
One thing to note is if Highvault is your first stage, exit the run and try again. Do not enter Highvault for any reason if you do not possess all three pieces in your inventory.
That’s one down!
Step 3: Essence of a Sealed Hero
This one is also a bit of a pain to get through as it’s a two-part item.
First, you’ll want to start a Tutorial run from the main menu. You’ll start as Ace, so take him all the way to the room where you gain control of Nina. Continue onward as Nina until you reach the Red Chest and gain the Zen Mortar weapon.
Now, backtrack all the way to the beginning of the level where Ace teleported in. You’ll notice that there is a path above you with some carefully placed spikes. Make your way up there, and you’ll see a blue switch. Fire your mortar to hit it and generate a platform.
Now, continue left using the mortar to hit more blue switches. You need to be fast, as the platforms only last a mere second or two. Once you go far enough left, you will face off against Kur in his full-powered-up form from Level 9! If you’ve beaten the run, you’ll know what to expect. Defeat him, and you will be rewarded with the Sealing Record Key.
With the key, start a new run. You want to go to Echocave and look for a Lore Capsule. The best one to find is the one that spawns right after the miniboss. If it’s not there, reset and try again unless you’re lucky and run into one elsewhere in the level. These capsules in Echocave will have a secondary option to use the Sealing Record Key by pressing Y (Xbox) or Triangle (DualShock/Sense). This will take you to a room where you can watch a cutscene and pick up Essence of a Sealed Hero.
Two down!
Step 4: Coalesced Entropy
This step is a little more straightforward, but it can be frustrating because it depends on a bit of RNG.
For this, you need to find all four Vagrant Core Set Pieces, equip them, and then visit Deepverse (Legacy). So, if Deepverse is your first level, restart and try again.
Upon entering Deepverse, with all four Vagrant set pieces equipped, the level will be transformed, and a glitch in the matrix will be trying to kill you the whole way through. Finish the level, and you will net yourself the Coalesced Entropy.
Three down, one to go!
Step 5: Multiversal Map
Of course, I would save the easiest for last!
On the home base, go up to the Seed Racer, and where you see the code for the Seed, erase it, and type in waveform collapse as all one word. Use that as your Seed, and you’ll be dropped into an alternate version of the base. Make your way and bear witness to a rather sad scene and collect your Multiversal Map.
With that, you are halfway there!
Step 6: Watch the Cutscene
Enter the new capsule that unlocks and watch a cutscene. It’s rather lengthy, but you still need answers after it, and to do that, it’s time to go back on yet another, scavenger hunt for more items! So, let’s get to it!
Step 7: Compressed Chronopulse
For this one, go to the home base and enter the Rush Job capsule. Defeat Eleanor, and this will spawn in the hallway after she leaves. You can finish the boss rush to get the achievement or exit out at this point. All up to you.
Step 8: Causation Invalidator
This one is another one that is dependent on RNG. You need to equip 3 prototypes and then enter the Burning Temple (Zen Primus). So, like all of the others, Burning Temple can not be your first stage. Restart if it is. Finding the capsules is a bit of a pain since they are all RNG, and I’ve had plenty of tries where I got 2/3 and didn’t find a third before I had no choice but to enter Burning Temple.
Getting a Volunteer through the Smuggler will up the chances of you seeing a Prototype Lab, though, so if you see it, get it!
Step 9: Memento of Harmony
This one can be tricky but pretty doable. You have to defeat all 8 stages and enter stage 9 without picking up any Core Set Pieces or Boss Powers. So it’s buster only, no armor. You can offset this by picking up a ton of Repros (if they are offered) and then focus on Health and Attack Damage upgrades.
Reaching Stage 9 will be a walk in the park since everything will be null and void… even the background. Make your way to the end to pick up your Memento of Harmony
Step 10: Cathedral Coordinate
This one also puts a challenge on you because, for every item you are offered, you will want to salvage it and get some scrap. In fact, any chance you have to take Scrap as a reward, take it because you need 50 Scrap Pieces.
With 50 in your inventory, head to Dustria (Capital Punishment). Like all those before, if Dustria is your first level, curse and restart. Go through the newly transformed stage, and once you are done, collect your Cathedral Coordinate.
Now, it’s time for pain.
Step 11: Memento of Devotion
With the above four acquired, you will unlock the final capsule!
This takes you to a stage where you are going to die… a lot. You are reset to your default of 80 health, no weapons, and as far as I can tell, there are only 2 chests along the way… one contains useless nuts (I assume because I never found a shop) and a single health while the other contains some health and an armor piece to boost you to 100 health.
Once muscle memory sets in and you make it to the top of this demented Ninja Warrior level, you face off against Eleanor! Beat her, thank the veggie in the sky it’s over, and claim your Memento of Devotion!
Congratulations!
You are officially…
…not done.
Step 12: 30XX’s True Ending
Start a new run. Get the Volunteer if you can because you’ll want as many prototype labs as possible. Enter them until you find a Symbol of Peace. This used to be the Symbol of Submission, but now that you’ve gotten this far, it will transform into the Symbol of Peace.
IF YOU WANT TO SEE AN ALTERNATIVE ENDING, GET THE SYMBOL OF SUBMISSION BEFORE DOING THIS GUIDE (which is why I said at the start to read this whole guide first before doing anything).
With the Symbol of Peace in your inventory, make your way to Stage 9 and get to the end.
That’s it. Watch the True Ending, and you, my friends, are…
Step 13: Just Kidding
…done!
Enjoy!
