The hype around The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom was getting pretty much unbearable by the time May 12th came around. So when the reviews said it was good, and the previews said it was unlike any previous Zelda experience, fans wanted nothing more than to dive in and start their own adventures. However, another thought crossed their minds, “Could this be the biggest Nintendo game launch ever?” Well, the answer has finally arrived, and it’s…close to the best.

In an official tweet from Nintendo, they revealed that The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom sold over TEN MILLION units in its launch weekend. While specific numbers haven’t been revealed, that would be on par with last November’s record-breaking debut by Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Either way, it’s the best launch in Legend of Zelda history, and some of the numbers from other regions show just how impressive it is. Other tweets revealed that just in North and South America the game sold over 4 million units, and over 2 million in Japan!

The Legend of #Zelda: #TearsOfTheKingdom has sold over 10 million copies worldwide in its first three days, becoming the fastest-selling game in the history of the Legend of Zelda series.
