Someone goofed and revealed several characters for the upcoming Mortal Kombat 1 reboot. Thanks to Amazon Italy’s goof and Reddit, we can confirm the Mortal Kombat 1 Kombat Pack and Kameo Fighters when using the Google Translator. The store page is still listed the last time I checked.
The Mortal Kombat 1 Kombat Pack consists of Quan Chi, Omni-Man, Ermac, Peacemaker, Takeda, Homelander, and the first set of Kameo Fighters are Tremor, Johnny Cage, Khameleon, Mavado, and Ferra.
There are some interesting choices here, as we’re getting several returning Mortal Kombat characters in Ermac, Quan Chi, and Takeda, but also DC Comic’s Peacemaker, Omni-man from the comic book/TV show Invisible, and Homelander from ‘The Boys,’ Another comic book and TV show. The last few are superpowered beings that normally could toss around the MK crew and would fit better in an Injustice game.
While the Kameo Fighters, who are characters that will assist your main character, which we assume will work like Marvel vs Capcom 1, include Johnny Cage, and Khameleon (not to be confused with Chameleon). Khameleon is an obscure character as she was initially a hidden character in Mortal Kombat Trilogy for the Nintendo 64, and MK: Armageddon for the Wii. Other than this, she’s just been in the backgrounds of other Mortal Kombat games.
One character, who I’m sure will upset some longtime Mortal Kombat fans, is Johnny Cage is being reported as a Kameo Fighter. Hopefully, this is a mistake, as Johnny Cage has been playable in nearly every Mortal Kombat mainline game to date, outside of Mortal Kombat: Deception, where he previously died and was then resurrected by Onaga. He’s also a fan favorite when it comes to the game, and even when he was missing in the Mortal Kombat movie reboot, there was quite a bit of frustration.
Granted, we still don’t know much about how the Kameo Fighters work, but based on what Netherrelam has stated, it feels like they won’t be playable.
We usually don’t like to report on rumors and leaks unless we can get a bit of confirmation. However, in this instance, we can consider the info legit, as it was Amazon who leaked it. Well, we shouldn’t say leaked, as they were given the information on a legit level… they just weren’t supposed to reveal it yet.
Mortal Kombat 1 is a reboot of the Mortal Kombat franchise and is set to e released on September 19, 2023, for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC.
