Capcom announced today via the official Mega Man Twitter account that Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 combined have surpassed 1 million sales globally. This makes Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection the fastest-selling game in franchise history, taking only 13 days to reach the 1 million mark.
The last game in the franchise to hit 1 million sales was Mega Man 11. The game took four years to achieve this feat and reached an apex of 1.6 million sales.
The Mega Man Battle Network series has been one of the most popular series in the franchise. Combining RPG elements, it offered a fresh and new approach to RPG combat games. Collecting battle chips, constructing folders, and advancing your character through HP and Power Up upgrades is the heart and soul of the games. Later versions expanded on this by giving MegaMan.EXE soul unison and beast out powers to change his armor and abilities, as well as the customizer program which further empowered your character. Mega Man Battle Network 1 and 2 were solo titles with 3-6 having two versions of each game, taking a page out of the Pokemon series.
Congratulations to Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection for this incredible feat!
