The Story

The eighth volume of In Another World with My Smartphone sees Touya battling the phrase. Nothing they do can put a dent into it but suddenly Ende returns and takes care of it. He bestows some useful information about the phrase and how they entered the world and then disappeared.

Touya finds the next gateway beneath the sands of the desert. There, he meets High Rosetta, the keeper of Babylon’s Workshop! Just like Cesca, Rosetta wants Touya to guess the color of her panties to gain ownership of the workshop. After seeing right through her plan, he obtains ownership and can now make anything that he wants! All he needs is the original item to duplicate it or the blueprints and materials to make it once before copying it. Seems pretty handy!

With the workshop acquired, he wants to move it and the garden to Belfast where he will link them together. Back home, Touya decides that he’s going to open a library café. He stocks it with books that he bought from his travels and charges a fee to anyone who wants to come in and read. Will works there part-time… the rest of the time he works for Touya at the mansion, and now he’s partaking in knight training. Oof… for a little dude, he sure has a full plate!

The readers at the café have several requests. Touya receives words that things may not be good in the kingdom of Regulus and, lo and behold, the books he needs to buy are there. Indeed, when he arrives, there is a rebellion against the emperor. Despite not needing to stick his nose into foreign politics, he checks out the situation anyway. There, he meets the princess, one of her knights, and the emperor. He learns about the situation where he realizes that Regulus is about to become a massive threat to Belfast and its allies!

Characters

MORE GIRLS!!! My lord this harem is growing exponentially.

First up, we have High Rosetta, ya. She’s a sassy girl who, like Cesca, has an infatuation with Touya, ya! As the protector of the workshop, she acknowledges Touya’s master status and grants him access to it, ya! In order to do so, she also had to kiss him and record his biometrics into her system, ya. That made for quite the way for Touya to be woken up from a nap, ya! In case you can’t tell, there’s a certain way that Rosetta talks, ya. Can you guess what she likes to add at the end of every single thing she says, ya? I’ll give you three guesses, the first two don’t count, ya.

Next, we have Caroline. She is a knight, fourth class who was assigned to the Emperor’s third knight platoon. It appears that her job is to protect the princess. Of course, she attacked Touya when he suddenly teleported in but after a short discussion, she puts her trust in him to rescue the Emperor. Outside of the standard military mind, she’s pretty average for a character. Nothing remarkable about her just yet but we only met her so there’s still time.

Next, is Lucea Rea Regulus, the third Princess of Regulus. She is just a cute girl who doesn’t have much experience around men so she’s a bit nervous when speaking to Touya. The fact that he protects her instantly earns him her trust. We’ll most likely see more of her so… not much to go on just now.

We also have the Emperor but… he was sick… and now he’s safe. That’s all we have so far but his health was the whole reason for the rebellion so… it does kind of play an important role.

Final Word

After a bit of “finding the next piece of Babylon” to hold us over, we have turned our attention to the next major story arc. With the overthrowing of Regulus’ rule… it’s only a matter of time before an invasion begins. It’s a good thing that Touya got involved because if he hadn’t, his harem wouldn’t have expanded! I mean, that’s the most important thing here, isn’t it? Safety, freedom, the comfort of living without tyranny… none of that matters in the end, right? It’s all about the number of girls you have swarming all around you!

But in all seriousness, Touya’s enemy this time is going to be a real challenge. It’s going to take some extra careful planning to overcome this one. However, I do expect victory will happen because… well… it would suck if Touya died right now in the story… plus, we still have the other pieces of Babylon to find. The most likely scenario is that they win and Regulus joins the alliance with Belfast as thanks to Touya for saving their entire kingdom… which means there are plenty more girls in a whole new nation that Touya can add to his harem!

The next volume should see the planning stages of this new battle or perhaps the battle itself! Maybe we’ll get more stuff on Ende and/or the Phrase? Maybe the Phrase interrupts the battle and Touya can put his new gravity magic to work? Guess we’ll see it in Volume 9!
