Playstation had a lot of games to show off in this latest State of Play. Unfortunately to some, a lot of this presentation seemed to focus on PSVR2. Here is a quick run down everything that was announced during this state of play.
VR2 launch trailer begins the state of Play
The beginning of the presentation was simply a basic trailer for PSVR2 with showing off games that were already announced.
Foglands
The next game to be announced was Foglands coming 2023. Had a really good soundtrack and some fun gun play but requires PSVR2.
Green Hell
The next trailer was Green Hell VR for the PSVR2. It looked like a haunted jungle with a story of some kind as you traverse and figure out things. The release date is only 2023 for this trailer as well
Synapse
The next PSVR2 trailer looked to be a very action heavy shooter with some parkour mechanics. I enjoyed the stylized graphics and the art particle effects of the lines you follow and shoot. Release date is 2023.
Journey to Foundation
The next trailer gave me Mass Effect vibes which now makes me want a Mass Effect VR experience. It is a game based on Isaac Asimov’s sci-fi epic known as Foundation. Journey to Foundation is coming out 2023.
Before your Eyes
Before your Eyes is a stylized PSVR2 game that seems to go back in time to the main character’s life and experiences. It is coming out March 10th, 2023. It takes place in the afterlife.
Destiny 2 Lightfall
A heavy hit Cinematic trailer depicting events that seem like they will take place in the expansion slated to be released February 28th, 2023, Destiny 2 Lightfall.
Tchia
Tchia gets a release date and a surprise PlayStation Plus Extra day 1 announcement. It will be released on PlayStation Plus extra and it will release March 23rd 2023.
PlayStation Plus March Catalog
We get some news for PlayStation Plus March Monthly games. Notably that Code Vein, Minecraft dungeons and Battlefield 2042 will be the monthly games in PlayStation Plus Essential.
We also get a look at some of the heavy hitting titles coming to PlayStation Plus Extra in March as well.
Humanity
This next trailer gives serious Lemmings vibes as you are a dog leading a slew of humans to the finish line through a variety of stylized obstacles. Humanity comes out in May 2023
Goodbye Volcano High
The next trailer gave me big interactive cartoon vibes with the shenanigan’s and all. It has gorgeous art and voice acting though not much actual gameplay in it. Goodbye Volcano High comes out June 15th 2023.
Naruto X Boruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections
This next trailer caught me off guard as the Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm games are one of my favorite Anime Video Game adaptions. They are combining all of the four games together into a cohesive whole from OG Naruto all the way to Boruto. Naruto x Boruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections is set to release 2023.
Baldur’s Gate 3 August 1st 2023
Baldur’s Gate 3 is the next trailer and it looks to be a huge change from what the older games used to look like. It seems to be grabbing even more inspiration from Dungeons and Dragons as it uses visual dice and cards to detail effects and skills. Baldur’s Gate 3 is set to release August 1st 2023.
Wayfinder
We got some insight to Wayfinder and the hub that the game will take place in. There is another beta February 28th 2023 that gets highlighted.
Street Fighter 6 (Zangeif Gameplay, Lily Gameplay, Cammy Gameplay) June 2nd 2023
We got three reveals for Street Fighter 6 showcased in the PlayStation State of Play. First off we get to see the new modern design of Zangeif and how his heavyweight gameplay will look. Afterwards we see Lily and her utilizing a very unique weapon and move set. And finally it ends off with Cammy and how she looks in the modern graphics. All fantastic reveals and fluid gameplay. Street Fighter 6 will release June 2nd 2023
Resident Evil 4 Remake (March 24th 2023)
The next trailer showcases gameplay in Resident Evil 4 Remake coming out March 24th, 2023. Leon gets to show off some more parrying mechanics. We also get a hint of a new special demo that is coming out soon.
Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League (set 5 years after Arkham Knight)(gameplay of Harley Quinn (Acrobratic grapple mechanic, Boomerang has speed force gauntlet to help him go fast, Deadshot Uses jetpack and long range weapons, King Shark Brute tank style) (May 26th 2023)
We get a very detailed look at the story and gameplay of Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. It takes place five years after the events of Arkham Knight, which makes me wonder if Arkham VR will be referenced with what happened at the end of that game. We see gameplay of Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, and King Shark respectively as well in the trailer with the final scene revealing Wonder Woman helping out the squad to stop The Flash. It is set to be released May 26th 2023. Harley Quinn has an Acrobatic moveset traversing through the areas with a grappling gun. Captain Boomerang has access to the Speed Force gauntlet that lets him move quickly to locations to use daggers and other weapons he has in his arsenal. It essentially makes him look like he is teleporting all over the map. Deadshot is a ranged fighter who gets access to his Jetpack. King Shark is stated to just be a big brute capable of taking a lot of damage.
